Brian Chinn—known formerly under the name Warm Gun—is a Korean-born & Seattle-raised singer, songwriter, guitarist, producer, engineer, and designer who has evolved from a behind-the-scenes producer into a passionate solo artist. At times sparse and at other times thick with sonic layers, his sound is a dynamic blend of pop, hip-hop, and ‘other’ that contrasts heavy production with infectious melodies.

As an adolescent influenced by the likes of Jimi Hendrix and B.B. King, Chinn honed his performance chops and ear for composition as a member of several rock bands before shifting towards a more independent approach. Determined to build a foundation in production, Chinn connected with like-minded Seattle artists like Dave B and Raz Simone, while simultaneously pursuing an Industrial Design degree at the University of Washington. After graduating, he expanded his collaborative production work among artists like Sango, Parisalexa, and international DJs Dimitri Vegas and Like Mike.

Brian’s experience on the road began at SXSW 2015, alongside Raz Simone. Here, he learned the fundamentals of high-intensity performance schedules, industry networking, and overcoming the physical and mental stresses that follow. Continued solo and collaborative performances across the US—including opening for Macklemore’s 2016 This Unruly Mess I’ve Made tour—have helped hone Brian’s endurance and focus as he sets his sights on stages in his new hometown of New York City.

Since moving to New York City during the summer of 2016, Brian has worked tirelessly to redefine his sound and artistic identity. Through minimalistic visual branding and bold, color-heavy photos and videos, Brian continues the contrast of busy and spacious heard in his music. With a series of single releases, video content, and events aligned for 2021, Chinn is aiming to stake his claim—not only through technical know-how, but through an interdisciplinary eye and a genuine love for the creative process.
